While renovations and additions are constantly ongoing, the newest renovations to Disneyland include the new Cars Land at California Adventure, Fantasy Fair in Disneyland and Mickey's Magical Map show at Disneyland. These new changes and additions have brought in much higher crowds and sparked a renewed interest in vacation travelers to the resort.
|Popular question: For a first Disney trip with little ones, do we visit the Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World? Answer: Since the Disneyland Resort is more compact, it is really a great first Disney trip for preschoolers, and can be enjoyed in a 3-5 day vacation. For a detailed comparison, visit our Disneyland or Disney World post.|
If you are interested in visiting the resort when the crowds are low, the best time is during off-season. Off-season is September to December (excluding holidays and the last two weeks of December) and January to March (except holidays and spring break). Keep in mind that off-season time, park hours are shorter and some attractions and entertainment might be closed or only on certain days. Weekends are still busy during these times due to the large local crowd of Annual Passholders. Click here for a chart on crowd levels throughout the year.
If you can only visit the resort when your children have summer break, remember that the weekdays have lighter crowds. Come prepared for long lines and hot weather, and consider staying a few days longer so you have time to experience everything you want to see.
